Proof of Identity & Communication
Whether you are a new or existing customer, in compliance with the provisions of the Criminal Justice Act, you will be asked to provide proof of identity when opening an account with the Society.
Two forms of identification are required: Photographic and proof of address.
Photographic: A current Passport or current Full Driving Licence
and
Proof of current permanent address: e.g. a recent utility bill or bank statement not more than 6 months old.
Evidence of PPS Number (To comply with the EU Savings Tax Directive).
In the case of joint accounts, each account holder must provide suitable identification.
All documents must be originals, and less than 6 months old where applicable. Please make sure you have signed them if necessary.
If you are not an Irish resident, then please talk to a member of staff to confirm what ID is required to open a new account.
Should you wish to open your account via post the following certified identification must be supplied;
A Certified Copy of 2 forms of photographic identification;
- Current passport and current full driving licence
and
A Certified Copy of proof of your address;
- A recent utility bill or bank statement not more than 6 months old.
Originals of the above must be sighted and certified by any of the following individuals; a police officer, lawyer, justice of the peace, elected official, bank official, post office official, notary public and commissioner of oaths. Copies made must be legible and photographs must be clear.

Non-Resident Requirements
- Evidence of Tax Identification Number, (“National Insurance Number” in the UK). This does not apply to non-EU residents, e.g. USA or Australia.
- Signed Non-Resident Declaration Form
Communication
- Your passbook is your record of your account with us. Your passbook will be updated each time you present it at a branch.
- You must present your passbook every time you withdraw funds from your account.
- You will receive a statement of balance and certificate of interest annually. Additional statements can be requested at any time through your local branch or our savings department on +353 (0)1 - 609 6490.
- Voting members of the Society will also receive written notification of the Society's AGM.
- Bond Account holders will receive letters in advance of their maturity dates advising them of their options.
- SSIA account holders will receive 6 monthly statements.
- In the event of a rate change the Society will place an advert in two national newspapers.
